ABOUT PALS BREWING COMPANY

OUR STORY

OPENED OUR DOORS IN 2017. BREWING SINCE 1995.

Pals Brewing Company was built on a dream that started in the mid-90s with a single homebrew kit from the Wine and Hop Shop. Over the years, that passion turned into a family-driven mission to bring craft beer and community to North Platte.

With a love for flavorful beer, homemade food, and good company, we opened our doors in 2017, and we’ve been growing ever since. Pals is more than a brewery. It’s a place where locals and travelers alike feel right at home, because you're always at HOME with PALS!

1995 – The First Brew

Pal buys his first homebrew kit from the Wine and Hop Shop while riding his bicycle after seeing a window sign on State Street claiming he could brew beer cheaper than he could buy it. Brews his first beer, "Jedd Hawk Porter" at his college house on Charter Street. Poor college roommates Reeths, Doc, and Pol won't even drink it. Pal is undeterred.

1996 – The Pale Ale Summer

Pal and summer roommate Wylie start brewing dry-hopped Pale Ales to try and mimic a highly sought-after California Pale Ale from a brewery named after mountains. They can't keep enough bottles in the fridge.

2002 – Pal Joins KLOB

While imbibing a few pints down at the Eccentric Cafe and browsing their homebrew supplies, Pal sees a sign for the Kalamazoo Libation Organization of Brewers (KLOB) homebrew club, led by pro brewer Dan Kiplinger. He decides to attend a meeting and meets Nick Ginsberg, who was also attending his first club meeting while attending Western Michigan University. Palsbrew and Ginsbrew are born.

2004 – The Keezer Days

Nick and Pal each build a giant keezer (keg freezer) to house their homebrew kegs using temperature controllers and a raised collar for taphandles. Pfizer after-work parties get a whole lot more fun with 9 beers on tap.

2015 – The Dream Becomes Real

At a family Thanksgiving Dinner in Hershey, Mark & Mendy state emphatically that "This town needs a brewery!". With Paul’s brewing skills and a strong team, Pals Brewing Company officially plans to open its doors in North Platte.

2017 – St. Patty's Day Opening Night

Pals served its first Irish Stout on St. Patrick's Day, a beer we still serve today because Irish Dry Stout is one of Pal's all-time favorite beer styles.
